sustainable city

Sustainable city – a term referring directly to the report “Our Common Future” prepared by the World Commission on Environment and Development (the so-called Brundtland Report) and paraphrasing the definition of sustainable development assuming that the needs of the inhabitants of a sustainable city must be met without diminishing the chances of future residents to meet them.

According to the standards developed by the UN and the European Union, cities should be designed in a way that minimizes their negative impact on the environment, with respect for the local community, cultural heritage, but also taking into account the economic calculus.
